National
Jean Company: Grand Opening!
The father of two daughters and co-owner of the National
Jean Company, Steve Simon was deeply moved by the Globe’s
article about Lisa Kapler and JDI’s event with the Red
Sox Wives, Picnic
in the Park. He contacted JDI and together with co-owner Julie
Shapiro, hosted a grand opening party at
the store on September 20th, 2004 to benefit the Coalition.
Over the course of the evening, several hundred guests enjoyed music
by a live DJ and munched on delicious hors d’oeurves while they
shopped for trendy sportswear. During the short program, Steve and
Julie thanked everyone for coming, and Lisa Kapler lauded their commitment
to raising awareness about domestic violence and sexual assault, while
speaking about her own experiences as a survivor of teen dating violence.
Kapler, who was outfitted by the store for the event, also encouraged
everyone to keep shopping as 15 % of the evening’s proceeds benefited
Jane Doe Inc..
National Jean Company’s merchandise is particularly popular
among teenagers and college students. To emphasize their commitment
to these issues and to further educate their clients who may be in
danger, Steve and Julie also announced that they would be placing placards
in all of their dressing rooms that will hold domestic violence and
sexual assault palm cards with local information and resources. JDI
looks forward to continuing our relationship with the National Jean
Company and all their wonderful supporters! |
