Survivor Stories: Video and
Discussion - All of April
The"Survivor Storeis" video will be shown on local
cable ccess stations throughout BARCC's service area complete with discussion
guide and resource information which will also be available on our web
site. This powerful 30-minute video is the result of a collaboration between
a number of local colleges and universities, BARCC, the Victims Rights
Law Center, and other Survivor Services. It follows both the survivor
and perpetrator of an acquaintance rape before and after the assault.

Wounded Heart Workshop - April 25, 2005
Create a healing heart to add to teh exhibit of "healing
the Wounded Heart" or to keep as a reminder of your own journey to
health and wholeness. Healing the Wounded Heart is an art exhibit of wooden
hearts created by survivors os sexual violence. Heartsa dn suppplies will
be provided free of charge.

The MDPH Sexual Assault Prevention and Survivor Services and Sexual Assault
Nurse Examiner Program are pleased to host a web seminar in recognition
of Sexual Assault Awareness Month and Child Abuse Prevention Month. This
web seminar is sponsored by CDC's National Center for Injury Prevention
and Control, CDC's National Center for Chronic Disease Prevention and
Health Promotion, the Department of Health and Human Services' Office
of Women's Health, the Health Resources and Services Administration, and
the National Sexual Violence Resource Center.
Topic: The Relationship of Adverse Childhood Experiences to Adult Health
and Well-Being

Description: The Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE) Study examines how
traumatic childhood experiences affect adult health and well-being. The
ACE Study reveals a strong relationship between emotional experiences
that occur in childhood and adult physical and mental health. It documents
how adverse emotional experiences in childhood lead to organic disease
later in life. The ACE study is a collaborate effort between the Centers
for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and Kaiser Permanente's Department
of Preventive Medicine in San Diego, California. For more information,

Registration: No registration is necessary to view this FREE seminar at
DPH. However, if you are not a DPH employee, you must show a photo ID,
sign in, and obtain a visitor pass at the DPH entrance in order to proceed

The Clothesline Project - April 30, 2005

the age of 16……
Sexual Assault is the most underreported crime in the nation….1998
Study showed 17.7 million reported a sexual assault and more than half
were under age 17 .
