Keri for Kids will be holding its milestone Tenth Annual Keri Sherlock
Memorial Walk on Saturday, October 4, 2008 to raise money to be donated
to shelters and other programs that help abused and neglected children
and their families. Keri for Kids is a fundraising organization that was
established in memory of Keri Lynne Sherlock by her family and friends.
The money we raise at our annual memorial walk is donated to various organizations
that benefit homeless children and children who are victims of neglect
or abuse. Keri was a very special young woman from Braintree, MA who was
taken from us at the age of 20. It was her love of children that inspired
us to pay tribute to her vibrant spirit and gentle soul through
Keri for Kids.
Registration fee is $10.00 and all participants receive a free tee shirt.
The event will be held at Pond Meadow Park in Weymouth beginning at 10
a.m. Money raised is donated to deserving organizations such as the Dianne
Devanna Center, The Bridge Home, The Jane Doe Foundation, D.O.V.E. Inc,
a shelter for at-risk teens in Somerville, and Birthday Wishes, a program
that gives children living in shelters their own birthday party.
Any donation of value in excess of $100 will be listed as a sponsor on
the tee shirts, which will be handed out to participants on the day of
the walk. If you would like to be listed as a sponsor, please contact
us at 617-459-5830 with the exact business name that you would like listed
on the tee shirt. I will need that information no later than Friday, September
5, 2008 to ensure that we have adequate time to have the shirts made.
If you have an item that you would like to donate for the raffle, please
contact me and I will be glad to arrange to pick it up or reimburse you
for the cost of shipping. The names of all businesses that donated to
the raffle will be displayed at the walk.
If you are unable to participate in the walk but would still to contribute,
please feel free to sponsor a participating walker, purchase raffle tickets
to win lots of great prizes or you can send donations via mail to:
Keri for Kids
PO Box 850331
Braintree, MA. 02185
Following the walk, there will be food and refreshments at the Braintree
Moose. All raffle prizes will also be drawn at the Moose.
Keri for Kids is a tax-exempt charity organization. For tax purposes,
please make note of our tax ID#, which is 04-3517812. If you would like
a receipt for your donation or have any other questions, please feel free

Host the Silent Witness Exhibit - REACH Beyond
Domestic Violence
The Silent Witness Project is a traveling nationwide traveling exhibit
of free-standing, life size red wooden silhouettes. Each witness represents
a woman, child, or man who was murdered in Massachusetts due to acts of
intimate partner violence. All witnesses have the name and the story of
the person on its breast shield.
Because these individuals no longer have a voice, the silhouettes are
called Silent Witnesses.
Why Use Silent Witnesses?
The Silent Witnesses are a visual and compelling way to touch
people on a personal level. The Exhibit uses art as an educational piece
as well as a forum to sensitize people to domestic violence: an issue
that affects everyone. By raising awareness of this issue the exhibit
is a pro-active method to attempt to alert people to the fact that domestic
violence is a community issue.
Silent Witnesses have been displayed in public and private venues, indoors
and outdoors, at local schools, libraries, hair salons, colleges, municipal
buildings, police departments, and recreational centers.
REACH offers posters, informatoinal handouts, and agency materials to
complement Silent Witness exhibits.
How to Host A Silent Witness Exhibit
If you would like to host the Silent Witnesses, please call the REACH
office at 781.891.0724 ext 105.
You may borrow one Silent Witness, several or all of them.
A donation of $50/day or $200/week is suggested. All funds raised provide
for the general upkeep and repair of the exhibit as well as promotion
and printing costs. REACH does not want to deny access to this exhibit
to anyone. If you are unable to financially meet the fees listed above,
please contact our office.
REACH is now accepting reservations for The Silent
Witness Project for October 2008. The exhibit is limited. Please call
soon if you are interested in hosting the Silent Witnesses.
