In Our
Own Voices was a conference for immigrants, refugees and allies to discuss
the barriers and challenges to addressing sexual assault and domestic
violence and to define opportunities for creating a vision for the future.
We invited advocates, counselors, program directors, educators, health
care providers, policy makers, government employees, activists and others
to come together for an engaging and informative day of sharing skills,
perspectives and resources.
KEYNOTE
SPEAKER:
Representative
Marie St. Fleur represents
the 5th Suffolk District in the House of
Representatives in the Commonwealth of
Massachusetts. She is the first Haitian
American ever to hold an elected seat in
Massachusetts. Representative St. Fleur
currently serves as House Chair for the Joint
Committee on Education, Arts and Humanities.
A graduate of the University of Massachusetts
at Amherst, Rep. St. Fleur earned a Law
Degree from Boston College Law School.
She has served as a Law Clerk in the MA
Superior Court, an Assistant District Attorney
in Middlesex County and as an Assistant
Attorney General in the Office of the Attorney
General. Representative St. Fleur is a member
of the Democratic State Committee and serves
on the boards of Project Hope, the African
American Federation and the YWCA of Boston.
