"Until women can live free of the fear of domestic and sexual violence I will continue to raise my voice and partner with JDI. I want to motivate and inspire others to reimagine manhood so that the next generation of young boys and girls expect relationships to be loving, caring, and respectful and that they learn to cope with disappointment, breakup, and disagreement in civil, respectful, nonviolent ways. " ~ Peter Roby - 2014 White Ribbon Day Campaign Co-Chair

Middlesex Sheriff Peter J. Koutoujian, Lt. Governor Karyn Polito to help kick-off for 10th Anniversary of Jane Doe Inc.’s Massachusetts White Ribbon Day Campaign

WHEN:                  Friday, December 9, 2016 at 10:00am

WHERE:                One Ashburton Place, 21st Floor

WHO:                    Over 100 people from government, private businesses, high schools and colleges, non-profits, law enforcement and athletic associations are expected at the launch event along with individual White Ribbon Day Ambassadors from across the Commonwealth. Representatives from this year’s White Ribbon Day Campaign Lead Sponsor Bank of America and Honorary Committee will also be present.

WHAT:                  In addition to remarks by White Ribbon Day Campaign Co-Chair Peter J. Koutoujian, Middlesex Sheriff, and Lt. Governor Karyn Polito, plans will be revealed for the 10th anniversary campaign. Liam Lowney, Executive Director of the Massachusetts Office of Victim Assistance, Rick Rendon of The Rendon Group, and Craig Norberg-Bohm, MA WRD Founder will outline the goals and strategies for educating and empowering men and boys, of all ages, to stand up to make the statement that there is no place for violence against women and gender based violence in our society.

Sheriff Koutoujian points to the timeliness and essential need for this campaign, “Recent headlines and dialogues demonstrate the pressing need for education, awareness and prevention like never before. Sexual and domestic violence are not laughing matters. It affects the people in our families, neighborhoods, schools and workplaces.  When men who care get off the sidelines and make a commitment to be a public ally and a role model, we will see change happen.”

Background on the campaign along with the lists of current White Ribbon Day Ambassadors (individual men) and White Ribbon Day Affiliates (organizations, groups, municipalities, government offices) can be found at www.janedoe.org/whiteribbonday.
