What's Happening

"Educating our communities and elected officials about the needs of survivors in our local cities and towns requires year round focus. JDI is our pathway to informing and influencing the state and national agenda to end sexual and domestic violence." ~ Karen Cavanaugh, JDI board member and Executive Director of Womanshelter/Companeras, pictured here with a JDI delegation meeting with Congressman Niki Tsongas

FY15 House Budget Finalized

The House budget, passed on 4/30/14, restored funding to the domestic violence services line item and included a greatly needed increase to the Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner program. While we are very pleased with this outcome, more funding is required to address the current unmet needs of victims and survivors throughout the Commonwealth. Please watch for more information about how you can help advocate once the Senate Ways and Means budget is released.

Thank your Representatives who co-sponsored our amendments (list at bottom of page) and fought hard to preserve and restore this funding!
