FY2012 Budget Heads to Conference Committee
June 02, 2011
The Senate version begins to close the gap created in FY2009 when the three key line items for direct services to victims of sexual and domestic violence were cut by as much as 23%. The House version includes critical funding for the SAFEPLAN Program and Domestic Violence Specialists at the Department of Transitional Assistance.
While we advocated for restoration to the FY2009 levels, we appreciate these small gains at a time when funding for many, many other essential programs was reduced or eliminated.
Call your Senator and Representative today and respectfully request that they give the highest priority to preserving these budget figures for sexual and domestic violence services:
$ 5,658,970 - DPH 4513-1130 (includes sexual assault, RISE, GLBT, BIP and prevention services; Senate level)
$20,770,858 - DCF 4800-1400 (support services for people at risk of domestic violence; Senate funding level with House Language)
$ 3,196,985 - DPH 4510-8100 Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) and pedi-SANE (Senate level)
$ 748,734 - DTA 4400-1025 Domestic Violence Specialists (House level)
$ 772,500 - MOVA SAFEPLAN Program (House level)
Please take a moment and thank your Representative and Senator for supporting these line items and ask them to continue that support through the Conference Committee process!
