5th Annual White Ribbon Day Tremendous Success

More than 300 people braved the weather to participate in the powerful, energizing, and inspirational Governor's Proclamation Event at the State House.  JDI's White Ribbon Day banner hung proudly once again in front of the State House.  Special thanks to our corporate sponsor, Macy's, for helping us demonstrate the power of prevention. 

2011 Data Staggering: But Hope Prevails

Massachusetts was a participant in three national studies in 2011.  These three independent reports singularly and collectively validate the effectiveness of sexual and domestic violence services. The Commonwealth should feel quite confident that public as well as private funds are well spent. Massachusetts White Ribbon Day 2012

The 5th Annual Massachusetts White Ribbon Day Campaign is off to a great start! Co-Chairs Angelo McClain, Commissioner of the Massachusetts Department of Children and Families (DCF), and Paulo Pinto, MPA, Executive Director of the Massachusetts Alliance of Portuguese Speakers launched the campaign on the 22nd anniversary of the massacre of 14 women in Montreal and the 20th anniversary of the international White Ribbon Campaign. Over the next few months McClain and Pinto will work with JDI to recruit men and boys across the Commonwealth to join them in taking this pledge, step up and be part of the solution in ending men’s violence against women. Spread the word!  Sign up today as a White Ribbon Day Ambassador.

Craig Norberg-Bohm, JDI’s Men’s Initiative Coordinator, joined Malcolm Astley, whose daughter Lauren (age 18) was murdered by her boyfriend this past summer, to talk about prevention on the MountWachusett Community College radio series called "Freedom Means."Tune into to WPKZ 105.3 FM (Fitchburg) on both Sunday February 5th and 12th at 8:30 AM!

In the coming weeks we’ll be announcing several more exciting new partnerships for the Massachusetts White Ribbon Day Campaign.
