SUMMARY:“Empowerment vs. Exploitation" Exhibit
DESCRIPTION:Art is a powerful tool for change. The Cultural Center put out an international call for art asking the following questions: \nWhat has caused the injustice? \nAre we doomed\, or is there a solution? \nHow do we move away from exploitation and empower ourselves and others? \nWe are so excited about the work coming to Cape Cod from 22 states and Canada. DESCRIPTION:We invite you to join us on Wednesday\, March 2 at 1:00 pm outside in front of Melrose City Hall (Essex Street entrance) for our 5th annual White Ribbon Day event!\n\nThe 15-minute ceremony will include a Proclamation of White Ribbon Day in Melrose by Mayor Paul Brodeur\, remarks by city and community leaders\, and MAAV Student Action Board members leading a pledge of non-violence. It will conclude with the raising of the White Ribbon Day flag outside of City Hall\, accompanied by Melrose High School drummers.\n\nJim Donohue\, President of Melrose Youth Soccer and recipient of Men4MAAV’s Excellence in Male Leadership Award\, will offer remarks about promoting equity and respect in sports.\n\nWhite Ribbon Day was created by a group of Canadian men in 1991 in response to the massacre of 14 women in Montreal. It is now an international event that occurs in more than 60 countries worldwide.\n\nAll members of the community are welcome to attend. We hope you will join us!\n\nSponsored by Men4MAAV and the City of Melrose Mayor’s Office.

SUMMARY:Community Prevention Strategies at the Cultural Center of Cape Cod
DESCRIPTION:Presented by the Independence House in partnership with the Cultural Center of Cape Cod. Does your place of work have a Code of Conduct?  Does everyone who uses your services feel safe in your building?  Do all your employees know what to do or say if someone disclosed sexual violence?  Come and learn how organizational policies can help to prevent sexual and domestic violence. We will share specific steps to take and available resources to use in reviewing your organizational policies. This workshop is free but does require prior registration.
